Aretha D. Frazier
Aretha is a first-generation attorney who is passionate about helping everyday people navigate complex family law issues.
Knowledgeable and experienced in many areas of family law, Aretha is especially passionate about helping her clients achieve outcomes that most benefit their children in custody matters. Previously, she worked as a guardian ad litem through the Colorado Office of Child Representatives, advocating for the welfare of children in foster care to ensure they had a voice in Dependency and Neglect proceedings. As an adoptee who was raised by her single, Black, lesbian mother, she brings her unique cultural understanding to each case and loves to work with non-conventional families.
In 2022, Aretha was named one of the top Black lawyers under the age of 40 by the National Black Lawyers.
Aretha earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2020. In 2014, after graduating with a B.S. in Psychology from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, she served as a Rural Education Development (R.E.D.) Volunteer with the Peace Corps in rural Zambia, where she gained invaluable experience serving the community as an English teacher and assisting the community leaders in anti-AIDS work. Upon returning to the US, Aretha left her hometown of Detroit, MI, for Denver, where she joined AmeriCorps and volunteered as a Literacy Tutor at a Title I school in Thornton, CO.
To give back to her community, she volunteers at Denver Legal Nights with the Colorado Lawyers Committee, offering free legal consultations. Outside of work, she enjoys roller skating, loose-leaf tea, and spending time with her two cats. She is also a proud (favorite) auntie.
